- Detection and identification of vertebrate material in fresh and processed samples (even highly processed samples, e.g. animal feed).
- Detection is based on amplification of vertebrate-specific sequences.
- Sensitivity: down to 0.5-5 % of vertebrate material can be detected.1
- Identification is achieved by RFLP analysis, showing unique restriction patterns corresponding to a given species. Up to 3 different species can be identified simultaneously.2
- Reagents for all amplification steps included in the kit: DNA amplification, DNA typing, control DNAs (upon customer's choice). Unless indicated otherwise, included control DNAs are pork, turkey, chicken and goat. DNA purification kit included on demand.
- Control DNAs avoid false negative results due to amplification inhibition.
- BIOFOOD Identification kit can be used for identification of vertebrate species in animal samples
- User's manual (.pdf).
1This is an average value. Sensitivity values may vary from sample to sample, depending on the combination of species present in the sample and their percentage. 2For samples containing more than 3 species, restriction patterns may overlap, therefore difficulting interpretation of results. |
