AGFOOD KITS
C.5.1. BIOFISH Cod
cod and gadiform species identification in food samples
  • Detection and identification of cod and gadiforms in fresh and processed samples.
  • Detection is based on amplification of gadiform-specific sequences.
  • Sensitivity: down to 1 % of gadiforms can be detected.1
  • Identification is achieved by RFLP analysis, showing unique restriction patterns corresponding to a given species.
  • Identified species are: Cod (Gadus morhua), Alaska Cod (Gadus macrocephalus), Pollock (Pollachius virens), Pollack (Pollachius pollachius) and Arctic Cod (Arctogadus glacialis).
  • Reagents for all amplification steps included in the kit: DNA amplification, DNA typing, control DNAs. DNA purification kit included on demand.
  • Control DNAs avoid false negative results due to amplification inhibition.
  • User's manual (.pdf).

1This is an average value. Sensitivity values may vary from sample to sample, depending on the combination of species present in the sample and their percentage.
